THE 2008 Blacktown City Relay for Life will be launched in Blacktown on Friday, August 1.

The event will feature a cabaret show, raffles and auctions to raise money for cancer research and a three-course meal and entertainment at the Blacktown Workers Club Ballroom at 7pm.

Tickets cost $35 each and all proceeds will be donated to the Relay for Life tally for 2008. To book, call 0434315327.

Bobby Bradford from Major Oaks centre is the event's special master of ceremonies, while entertainment will include the Frogs on Toast cabaret group.

The event will be attended by NSW Cancer Council representatives and teams registered for this year's Relay for Life.

The Relay will be on the November 1-2 weekend at Blacktown Olympic Park, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill.

Residents, community groups, businesses and schools are urged to participate.

The relay will involve teams of 10 to 15 people walking laps around the oval.

It can also be an overnight event to allow walkers to come and go, or pitch a tent next to the track and stay the night.

Blacktown City Relay for Life raised more than $750,000 in the past five years and is the highest earning Relay for Life event in NSW.
